The GIST: Stop us if you’ve heard this one before, but collegiate gymnasts earned an unreal number of perfect 10s this weekend. Seven gymnasts from six different programs racked up perfect scores just one week after 11 were awarded, once again raising questions about NCAA scoring standards. It’s hard not to feel like 10s are losing their shine.

  • Even with that caveat, the showcase of talent was mind-blowing. Here are the meets that were giving this weekend.

SEC showdown: No. 5 Auburn and No. 9 LSU squared off in an all-Tiger tussle Friday night, highlighted by perfect 10s from LSU sophomore Aleah Finnegan on vault (her second 10 of the season) and Auburn sophomore Suni Lee on bars (her fourth season 10). Auburn’s sterling floor routines earned them the 197.750–197.500 edge in front of a raucous home crowd.

Pac-12 party: Welcome to the Jade Carey show! No. 13 Oregon State’s Olympic superstar sophomore earned two nearly-perfect scores Friday, helping her squad to a 197.375 draw with No. 7 Cal. Carey swept all four event titles to capture the all-around, and both squads remain undefeated and neck-and-neck in the Pac-12 standings.

  • Elsewhere, No. 26 Washington continued to be pummeled in their incredibly competitive conference, falling 196.800–196.750 to No. 28 Arizona on the road. They’ll try to vault back against No. 24 Stanford tonight at 7 p.m. ET (stream it here).

Big Ten baddies: No. 17 Iowa put the gymnastics world on notice Saturday when they came from behind to upset one of the country’s buzziest teams, No. 12 Michigan State. Turns out, sticking those landings really does make a difference.

  • Can’t get enough of the best of the Midwest? There’s another Top 25 matchup when No. 14 Ohio State visits No. 22 Illinois at 9 p.m. ET tonight on BTN.
