We’re looking for a Senior Social Media Producer to help level up our social presence across platforms and bring The GIST’s storytelling to life. This person will own the creation of high-impact original and branded content — from ideation and scripting to production and publishing — across Instagram, TikTok, X, and emerging platforms. This person must be obsessed with sports, socials, and driving growth.
You’ll collaborate closely with brand partners, internal editors, and creators to concept, produce, and deliver social content that feels distinctly GIST-y: smart, punchy, fan-first, and culture-forward. You will also play a key role in on-the-ground coverage, turning tentpole sports moments into scroll-stopping content.
Because sports don’t keep 9–5 hours, this role requires flexibility, occasional nights/weekends, and the ability to travel for content capture, major events, and shoots.
What you’ll be doing:
Content Production & Strategy:
- Lead the end-to-end development of original and branded social content, from pitch to publish.
- Concept and execute platform-native videos, graphics, and multimedia packages tailored to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, X, etc.
- Stay on top of sports news, women’s sports storylines, and cultural moments to proactively spark content ideas.
- Manage and execute multi-platform coverage of major sports tentpoles, league events, playoffs, championships, and pop-up opportunities.
Branded Content & Client Collaboration:
- Interpret and internalize creative briefs, ensuring deliverables meet both client expectations and The GIST’s editorial standards.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Client Solutions, and Brand Partnerships teams to develop concepts, storyboards, and shot lists.
- Execute branded content with care, creativity, and consistency — delivering on KPIs, timelines, and partner messaging.
- Attend client meetings as needed, present ideas, and collaborate directly with partners throughout the production process.
Production & Creator Support:
- Support and direct talent during shoots — from The GIST’s correspondents to athletes, influencers, and partners.
- Coordinate logistics for on-the-ground content capture, including travel, shoot prep, talent cues, and production schedules.
- Work with external creators and freelancers to ensure alignment with brand guidelines, tone, and visual identity.
Publishing & Performance:
- Optimize content for platform best practices, trends, and analytics.
- Collaborate with the social team on posting schedules, captions, tagging, and distribution strategy.
- Track performance and support real-time content pivots.
What we’re looking for:
- 3–5 years of experience in sports media, news media, or a fast-paced digital content environment.
- Deep understanding of social platforms — especially Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube — and what makes content perform.
- Expertise in short-form video production: scripting, shooting, directing, editing, and packaging.
- Comfort working with partners and clients, interpreting briefs, and creating branded content that moves the needle.
- A sports brain and a content brain — you know the landscape, the athletes, the storylines, the memes, and what sports fans actually care about. You are obsessed with content and sports.
- Creative instincts + editorial judgment — able to balance fun, personality, and accuracy.
- Strong communicator and collaborator, able to give and receive feedback effectively.
- Thrives in dynamic environments with shifting priorities, night/weekend coverage windows, and travel.

- Comfort with travel for event coverage, production / shoots, and on-the-ground content
