Happy April!
March Madness is officially in the books for 2023, so on today’s episode of The GIST of It, co-hosts Ellen Hyslop and Steph Rotz are chatting through all the highs and lows of this year’s women’s tournament.
The crowning of the LSU Tigers as this season’s NCAA champs wasn’t the only thing worth celebrating — from records shattered on the court to massive viewership and attendance throughout the tourney, eyes were rightfully trained on the gals’ game.
After digging into those smashed records, the gals are joined by guests Robyn Pearson and Dee Lab, who were part of The GIST’s on-the-ground coverage team in Texas, to talk through the IRL Final Four experience.
Then after the break, El and Steph dive into the tourney’s lows, from head scratching officiating to blatant misogynoir, as well as the silver lining to these trending social media arguments: that the women’s game is finally being picked on as much as the men’s.
