Who will be dancing to the women's Final Four in Dallas?
The GIST: The No. 3 seed LSU Tigers and No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes are yee-hawing all the way to Friday’s women’s Final Four in Dallas, where for the first time in a long time, there won’t be a UConn gals’ squad on the court. Tune in tonight to see who will join the Tigers and Hawkeyes. Giddy up!
Yesterday’s matchups: Unlike their HC Kim Mulkey’s head-scratching style choices, LSU made a statement with their 54–42 win over the No. 9 Miami Hurricanes. While the ’Canes rumbled in the first half, the Tigers, led by star Angel Reese’s SEC-record 32nd double-double, outran them to the victory. Category one…and done.
- The Hawkeyes also impressed with their 97–83 victory over No. 5 Louisville, courtesy of Caitlin Clark’s big hands and her 40-point triple-double, the first in NCAA tourney history. Step aside Kent — there’s a new Clark in town, and she doesn’t need a cape.
Tonight’s contests: The two remaining Final Four spots are up for grabs tonight, and it’s a double “Big Ten vs. No. 1 seed” showdown. First up, the No. 3 Maryland Terrapins will try to slow the undefeated No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks at 7 p.m. ET. It’s a tall task for the Terps, who already fell hard to South Carolina in November.
- Then the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes will take on the No. 1 Virginia Tech Hokies at 9 p.m. ET. While the Bucks were fierce in their Saturday win over No. 2 UConn, it’ll take a full team effort to turn the 30-4 Hokies around tonight.
