On Friday, Seton Hall University and YouGov published a poll on American interest in women’s sports. Half of all respondents would like to see more media exposure for women’s sports, and 66% of avid sports fans feel the same. Give the people what they want.
📺 56%: The proportion of avid sports fans who would watch more women’s sports if they were more readily available on TV or other platforms. Forty-eight percent of casual fans agreed, as did 37% of all surveyed.
💰 51%: The percentage of all respondents who believe advertisers and media companies “have a responsibility” to advance the growth of women’s sports. The number remains high across multiple demographics, especially avid sports fans — 69% of them feel the same way.
🤸 24%: The segment of those surveyed that follow women’s gymnastics, which was the most followed women’s sport for most demographics, including 29% of women and 31% of all sports fans. The FIFA Women’s World Cup was up there, too — it ranked highest for men (25%) and avid sports fans (37%).
