Teams to watch at the 2023 NCAA national volleyball tournament
The GIST: Move aside, Harry Styles — the real serves are coming from the NCAA volleyball court, where 64 teams will battle for the national championship beginning tomorrow and culminating with the title game on Sunday, December 17th.
How it works: The volleyball tourney selection process is quite similar to NCAA basketball’s March Madness: 32 teams received an automatic bid by winning their conference, while the remaining 32 were selected by a selection committee based on metrics including record and strength of schedule.
- Competition begins with tomorrow’s first round and will run for six single-elimination rounds to determine the natty champ. Digging deep.
Teams to watch: No. 1 overall seed Nebraska has been breaking records and taking names all season long and seem destined for a 2021 championship rematch with fellow No. 1 seed Wisconsin, the only team to top the Cornhuskers this year.
- Perennial powerhouse and nine-time title winners No. 1 seed Stanford are also firmly in the mix, along with the defending champs, No. 2 seed Texas. The intrigue? Consider it spiked.
