The road to the College Cup continues in men's and women's soccer

The GIST: The men’s and women’s soccer tourneys are only in their second rounds, but brackets are already busted.

The men: The 32 unseeded teams duked it out yesterday for a chance to dance to Sunday’s second round, where the 16 seeded squads lie in wait. The biggest jaw-dropper? Junior midfielder Max Rogers’ last-minute screamer from midfield that delivered Yale a 1–0 upset over Bryant (who’s ranked No. 19 nationally) — Yale’s first NCAA tourney win since 1999. Hot damn.

• Denver also took a shock-and-awe approach, finding the back of the net twice in under three minutes to secure a 2–1 first-round dub over Long Island, and Oregon State ousted Seattle U (ranked No. 9 nationally) 2–1 in double-overtime. Hugs on hugs.

No. 5 Michigan State scooped the tourney’s third upset (and the program’s first-ever trip to the Sweet Sixteen) with a 1–0 win over No. 4 Harvard, while No. 1 BYU cruised to a 1–0 dub over No. 8 USC.
