👋 Canadian footy fans, rejoice. The inaugural Northern Super League (NSL) season begins this week, bringing pro women’s soccer to the Great White North for the very first time.

  • While CanWNT has seen success on the global stage, there has never been a professional women’s league to foster talent in Canada, forcing talent to play abroad.

That’s why the NSL is so important. Finally, both up-and-coming and established Canadian soccer players can enjoy a pro career in their home country, changing Canada’s women’s soccer landscape one goal at a time.

At The GIST, we know that when you can see it, you can be it — and with the creation of the NSL, girls will grow up knowing that becoming a pro soccer player without leaving home is possible, bolstering the red and white’s world champion ambitions. Booyah.

⚽ Here’s what you need to know before kickoff. The NSL features six founding clubs — Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax — with the first game taking place on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET between Vancouver and Calgary.

  • Each team will play 25 regular season games, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs.
