Will the Toronto Raptors make moves at the NBA trade deadline?
The GIST: Four years removed from the 2019 Championship, the Toronto Raptors find themselves in the bottom five of the Eastern Conference, and rumors are swirling ahead of tomorrow’s 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline. Here’s who could be on the move.
Fred VanVleet: Perhaps the team’s biggest question mark, VanVleet’s up-and-down performance, noted frustration with management and Degrassi-level moves (like unfollowing all of his teammates) have kept the rumor mill churning all season.
OG Anunoby: Fan favorite Anunoby is one of the league’s best two-way players when he’s healthy. He’s been a centerpiece of Toronto’s lineup, but trading him could help the Raps secure some new star power.
Pascal Siakam: Franchise star “Spicy P” leads the Raps in points, rebounds and trade speculation. Despite this year’s All-Star snub, he’s performing at his statistical best, but may be growing tired of the Toronto media pressures.
What’s next: The current squad has a chance at one last hurrah when they host the struggling San Antonio Spurs — and get a closer look at a possible new center option in former Raptor Jakob Poeltl — tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET. Wishing we could keep ’em all.
