The GIST: One win away. The Houston Astros took a 3-2 series lead with last night’s 3–2 Game 5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, meaning tomorrow could be the night the trophy is awarded — unless the Fightins come to play.

Games 4 and 5: After a history-making performance with Wednesday’s Game 4 combined no-hitter, the Astros picked up right where they left off last night. Ace hurler Justin Verlander (five innings, six strikeouts) shut down the Phillies’ offense, finally grabbing his elusive first career World Series win.

  • As for the Houston offense, it was all about rookie shortstop Jeremy Peña, who came in clutch once again with two RBIs. Ice in his veins.

Game 6 preview: The teams are heading back to Houston and the Astros could hoist their second title (and first real one) in five years in front of their home crowd. Lefty Framber Valdez will try to fend off Philly once again, but the Phils will counter with ace Zack Wheeler.

  • Enjoy today’s off-day to steel your nerves, then tune in tomorrow at 8:03 p.m. ET to see if Houston can win it all or the Fightins can force the two best words in sports: Game 7.
