The GIST: With all 32 teams in action last night for the first-ever Frozen Frenzy — NHL’s RedZone-style hockey show that sadly wasn’t available in the Great White North — here are all the highs and lows from a wild day at the rink.

The Toronto Maple Leafs soar past the Washington Capitals: Tessa Virtue’s fiancé, defenseman Morgan Rielly, opened the Frozen Frenzy scoring, lifting the Leafs to a 4–1 win, their second straight dub.

The Connor McDavid–less Edmonton Oilers continue to struggle: The star center suffered an upper body injury that will keep him out for one to two weeks, and the shorthanded Oilers’ woes continued in a 7–4 loss to the Minnesota Wild, extending their L streak to three.

Three teams remain undefeated: Two weeks into the season, the Colorado Avalanche (6-0), Boston Bruins (6-0), and reigning champion Vegas Golden Knights (7-0) are still perfect after picking up dubs over the NY Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks, and Philadelphia Flyers, respectively. Hot hot hot.
