The GIST: It’s (almost) game-time, baby! The stage is set, and we can’t wait to cheer for Canada, especially forward Alphonso Davies, aka the North’s sweetheart.
The details: Before heading to Qatar, Davies teamed up with BMO to grow the game here at home by surprising youth players at a clinic in his hometown. Too cute.
The bigger picture: In addition to their work with Davies, BMO is making the beautiful game more accessible through their youth soccer programs. Did you know they support around 13,000 (!!!) Canadian kids? Now that’s a World Cup–worthy win.
While we love seeing the world come together for soccer’s biggest event, it’s important to remember that not everyone has access to the game. That’s why we love BMO’s GearUp program, which collects gently used soccer equipment across Quebec to be refurbished and donated to youth players.
- Over 10,000 items were donated last year, helping kids throughout the province take the pitch. Magnifique.
