The GIST: Still weeks out from her 18th birthday, Toronto’s own Summer McIntosh has already become the face of Team Canada in Paris. Talk about making a splash.

McIntosh grabs gold in 400m individual medley (IM): The 17-year-old dominated the field pool yesterday to earn her second medal of the Games, beating runner-up Katie Grimes of the U.S. by a whopping five and a half seconds.

  • Expectations for McIntosh were sky-high after she narrowly missed the 800m freestyle podium in Tokyo and set a world record in the 400m IM at May’s Team Canada trials. Safe to say she’s more than lived up to the hype.

What’s next: McIntosh’s grueling schedule continues with tomorrow’s heats and semifinal in the 200m butterfly, where she’s widely expected to make Thursday’s final.

  • She’ll then have a fourth shot at history in the 200m IM, with heats and semis scheduled for Friday and finals on Saturday. Our prediction? The summer of Summer is just getting started.
